But Boyer said the difficulty of his effort doesn’t diminish its
appeal. “I love a challenge,” he said. “and I don’t think the truth is being told about things like our decreasing population.”
Indeed, mention of the decline is never far from Boyer’s lips. He said the state is not doing enough in the way of selling itself to attract and retain people.
Asked for specific ideas, Boyer said North Dakota could institute a
program where farmers band together to donate grain to hungry children in Africa. A Boyer administration would immediately seek budget cuts to save taxpayers’ money and look to further reduce people’s property tax burden, he said.
